COMPONEX NAMES ROGER BEERS OPERATIONS MANAGER

Edgerton, WI, July 15, 2005 — Componex, the Edgerton, Wis.-based manufacturer of precision dead shaft rollers, has appointed Roger E. Beers Operations Manager. Beers, of Milton, Wis., previously was Director of Ecolab Food & Beverage Engineering, S. Beloit, Ill.

In his newly-created position, Beers will be responsible for implementing cell manufacturing processes, reducing lead time and increasing production efficiency. Cell manufacturing is part of the philosophy of lean design, which calls for eliminating waste, reducing cycle times and increasing throughput in industry.

Beers brings numerous skills to Componex, according to Darcy Perona, Sales Director. "He's very much a people person and a very high level motivator," she said. At Ecolab, Beers reduced lead time for the manufacturing of cleaning and sanitizing systems for the food industry from seven weeks to one. Under his management, the company also increased revenue from $9.5 million to just under $30 million. "We're really looking to him to provide that kind of leadership," Perona added.

In accepting the post at Componex, Beers cited the opportunity it presented. "Here you have a technology that's far superior to anything that's out there, and a company committed to expanding in the marketplace and establishing a leading position," Beers said.

"The prospects for growth and challenge were part of what attracted me, along with a company willing to invest in enhancing its competitive position," Beers added. "It's the recipe for success, and I feel privileged to have been selected by the management and production teams."

The appointment of Beers coincides with sales growth at Componex. The company recently acquired some 25 new customers and is projecting an increase of $1 million in revenue this year. To serve its expanded market, Componex is adding higher technology equipment and reorganizing its entire factory along the principles of cell manufacturing.

Componex manufactures dead shaft idle rolls for the web handling and converting industry. Its innovations include the patented Winertia Ô product line, the lightest weight aluminum idlers in the industry.
